No, we do not send spam. However, it is a fact of life that newsgroups can be hacked by spammers and send out spam to lists. We do our utmost to stop this.

You must be a member of the list to send announcements to the list.

What happens if I send spam to the list?
You get blacklisted from the list unless you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt to very irate administrators that there is a dang good reason you should be allowed to post. Acts of Gods (including things like worms and viruses) that cause spam to be sent to the list is your own fault for running an insecure system, and you will be blacklisted. If you irritate the players and admin enough, you may also be banned from the game.

Can't a spammer just join the list and send out spam?
Yes, but it is a semi-moderated list. Abusers of the list will be blacklisted from the list.

But I may still get a lot of spam before they get blacklisted!
If the list proves to receive too much abuse it will become completely moderated. In other words, you won't be able to even join the list without permission of the administrators.

Why don't you do that now?
Because it would require a lot of overhead, and the list is opt-in. You have to choose to subscribe and you can unsubscribe at any time. You can always read the archives on the website.
