What's the point of having a newsgroup?
The newsgroup is for game-related announcements only. All chat and other communication should use a different vehicle, such as feedback to the admin or the discussion boards.

I'm a mature individual and think before I send email to newsgroups.
Great! Then you probably don't need to read the rest of this, but can be content to know that it's here to protect your participation on the newsgroup. Since this is on a publicly accessible web site, we just want to be sure that our position is completely spelled out for the public at large.

What if someone flames me on the board?
They will get blacklisted from the board and depending on the nature of the flame, they will get banned from the game.

What if I flame someone on this board?
You will get banned from the board and probably the game. Your characters will be immediately @newpassworded and you may also be site-banned from ever connecting to the game.

So what's the point of sending email to this list if I can't flame people?
This list is for game-related announcements and communication about the availability of the game. For example, if you cannot connect to the game, you can send to this list. If the game is down or crashes and doesn't come back up, you can send to this list. If you feel the need to flame the other players, let us know and we'll be happy to @nuke your characters for you.

Gee, are you obsessed about getting flamed? Can't you take criticism?
Sure we can. Go to the discussion boards for constructive criticism and discussion of the game, or send us your feedback directly. But don't flame the other players. It's that simple. We like our players and want them to be informed about game events and uptime/downtime. If the newsgroup gets used for flame-wars, then no one will use it for its intended purpose. Think of this is a preventative announcement and attempt to never have to blacklist or ban anyone. The last thing we ever want to deal with is "But no one told me I'd get banned for that!"
