Know your audience. It is that simple. We are not going to tell you how to play your character, and profanity is a part of life. However, if you end up in a situation where someone is oocly harassed by your language, you can end up having a disagreement that could easily have been avoided. To clarify, we are not going to tell you how to behave and what morals your characters should have. That's your job, as the player. You may however choose to exercise some measure of constraint in public areas or when gaming with someone new for the first time. You can communicate without being shocking, and until you know the people you are playing with a little better, you might choose to be cautious. OOC profanity should be monitored more closely, again, making sure that you know your audience. Profanity in public places or in pages or other means of communication may be construed by the recipient as harassment, and if you are asked to stop, stop. You are responsible for knowing the rules on harassment. When in doubt, type +rating to determine the rating of a room. More information is avaialble under ratings. |
