  Non-featured Player Characters
[index] [featured] [non-featured] [themed] [non-themed] [original] [post continuity] [non-player]

The terms 'Feature Character' and 'Non-Feature Character' have typically been used to classify player characters. We have chosen to break away from this classification for a number of reasons, and honest -- it is not our goal to confuse you.

What exactly makes a feature a feature? 'Feature' implies that they are more important than a 'Non-Feature'. Are they? Well, in some ways, yes. The MUX's whole theme is based around the lives of a select group of people, and their importance is recognized in the way we put extra requirements on how active certain characters are and by not being shy about wanting to see these people on the MUX. Yes, a distinction should be made between which characters are from the comics, and which are made up. However, if you look at MMM, the NFCs are often the ones driving the plots. They have proven to be plenty important in their own right.

Thus we are renaming the categories used to better reflect that the distinction is made on who is from the comics and who is not when giving criteria for applications, and that is really the only reason for the distinction—to know how to judge your application. This is not about who the spotlight is on and who is just an extra.
