  Character Activity: Semi-Active
[index] [regular] [semi-active] [temporary] [policy]

A character is assigned the classification of 'semi active' when there is some significant and compelling reason that the character should not or cannot be present constantly. Note that while we acknowledge and sympathize with real life pressures, we cannot simply award every prominent character a semi-active status to enable someone to keep a character. This classification pertains to characters which have characteristically been infrequently seen in the comics, original (once 'nonfeature') characters without significant intra-MUX connections, or exceptionally powerful or devastating characters whose frequent presence would harm the MUX.

Characters who have little motivation to interact regularly with the MUX, or who have characteristically been infrequently seen in the comics with strong In Character justification for such behavior may be given semi active status. For example, Deadpool, The Toad, Sasquatch, Squirrel Girl are characters who might be eligible for this status. If Squirrel Girl wanted to occasionally hop online and stop a bank robbery or murder, that'd be fine. However, if Squirrel Girl was highly active on the MUX and maintained a regularly active status and joined the X-Men (hah!), there is no reason that she could not keep a regular status. In other words, we won't tell these people *not* to roleplay. They simply have the option of roleplaying infrequently. For example, Mystique could function as a semi active character; however, on MMM, Mystique is an invaluably active character.

Original characters without significant intra-MUX connections can be awarded this activity classification either upon granting of the character or if the player's activity level must drop for some real life reason. In other words, we're happy to have you come up with a character who can play when your real life allows. Original characters more easily fit into this category simply because they lack the premade connections to non-original characters. Non-powered human characters fit well into this category, as do the occasional villain or criminal mastermind. Again, we want to emphasize that you can play as often as is appropriate in character.

Finally, exceptionally powerful individuals may be granted, or even *forced* to accept this classification. People such as the Shadow King, Apocalypse, even Sinister or Juggernaut, could ultimately be highly destructive to the MUX. These are people who are better suited to only infrequently pounding the crap out of the heroes or destroying New York City neighborhoods, and work well as the criminal mastermind type or those who would run annual global tinyplots. These characters might be highly active for a few months and then inactive for a year—consider Cameron Hodge's role on the MUX. In some cases, these characters may be staff run.

Semi active characters are expected to play with less frequency, though this is not necessarily demanded of them. This is intended to provide flexibility for part-time players and to also help in maintaining a balance of power on the MUX. These characters will be given extended graces before receiving an idle warning.
