Know the Theme
Review 'news continuity' thoroughly. Know the theme of the MUX well, and try to have an understanding for the power levels and pre-existing game balance. Realize that only certain non-theme characters will or can be considered. Be aware that it is now 1994 on the MUX—do you have your character's age right accordingly? Try to weed out anachronisms and inconsistencies, and definitely avoid warping reality.

Know the MUX
We have put a great deal of effort into constructing as thorough a set of news files as was possible, and we are constantly updating these files when inspired to do so. Be aware ahead of time what you think the impact of your character will be on the game world. There is a reason that Galactus is not on the list of Featured X-Characters. There is a reason we removed Stryfe from the list, there is a reason that the Phoenix Force has left along with its avatar. Review the online roleplay logs archives.

Originality
Applications should be of your own creations. Please be original in the formulation of your traits, powers, skills, resources, background, and contacts. We encourage you to reference other materials, but copying straight from those sources is frowned upon as a sign of lack of originality.

Plagiarism in any form is a Bad Thing™. Applications which the staff here at Mutatis Mutandis feel are unoriginal will be soundly rejected, and characters found to have plagiarized backgrounds/etc. will at best be forced to rewrite them, and at worst be removed from the game. Plagiarism on an application is sufficient grounds for denial of any further application for that character.
