Grammar and Spelling
If you don't take the time to proofread or spellcheck your work, why should we
take the time to read it? There is something to be said for eloquence in an
argument.
Overall Consistency
Your application should be coherent and cohesive, presenting a solid and well
researched dissertation on the character. If you have two rather contradictory
traits, you should mention as to how your character reconciles these traits.
Psychology is Important
The interpretation of the psyche is very important and can never be too
thorough. This is a text-based roleplaying game. The be-all-end-all of the
game is not to beat each other up but to explore the characters and develop
them.
Specific Power Levels
We need to know how strong, what ranges, max and min, of every power, be it
phsyical, mental, magic, what have you. For example, we want to see that
Colossus can lift 80 tons, not that he has super strength. Whenever possible,
assign some sort of tonnage or comparison to a value. Also be explicit about
weaknesses and limitations!
Comprehensive Character Background
Character background should be comprehensive. Set an age if possible, or give
a close range. If there is a hole in the background, make something up that is
in line with your perception of the character and how you intend to play the
character. This goes for FCs as well as NFCs.
IC Justification
Everything must have IC justification. Every skill, trait, power, contact,
equipment of technology must fit into the whole of the character.
Uniqueness
If you are applying for an NFC, uniqueness is encouraged in the concept,
power, background, traits, personality, contacts, skills, you get the idea...
it is encouraged all-around.

Following Instructions
The application is organized and so should your application be. Follow the
format of the application and address all questions raised in the application.
It is actually possible for an application to be rejected if it is not in
MMM's application format. We do not accept applications for other MU*s.
Completeness
Many wizards will out of hand reject an application that is incomplete. It is to
your benefit to answer all sections thoroughly.
Alts
We ask for your alts in order to get an idea of your RP experience, and more
importantly, to get an idea of how much time you can devote to this MUX and
the character you are pursuing. If you do not tell us, we'll assume that you
have some reason not to tell us and we will regard this as an unanswered
question, and thus an incomplete application. If your application is being
judged against another for the same character, it will be held against you on
the sake of incompleteness. If you are not in direct competition, you delay
the approval of the character while we have to ask for this information, and
as such, someone else might apply in the interim.
Originality
Applications should be of your own creations. Please be original in the
formulation of your traits, powers, skills, resources, background, and
contacts. We encourage you to reference other materials, but copying straight
from those sources is frowned upon as a sign of lack of originality.
Plagiarism in any form is a bad thing(tm). Applications which the staff here
at Mutatis Mutandis feel are unoriginal will be soundly rejected, and
characters found to have plagiarized backgrounds/etc. will at best be forced
to rewrite them, and at worst be removed from the game. Plagiarism on an
application is sufficient grounds for denial of any further application for
that character.
